Peel Ports Group have been awarded Silver accredited membership via The 5% Club's 2022-23 Employer Audit Scheme.
Peel Ports Group is delighted to announce that we have been awarded Silver accredited membership via The 5% Club's 2022-23 Employer Audit Scheme. This award highlights our significant contribution to the continued development of all our colleagues through "earn & learn" initiatives like apprenticeships, graduate schemes, and sponsored student course placements.
The 5% Club, an influential UK industry group focused on championing the recruitment of apprentices and graduates, annually assesses employers' progress in achieving their goal of ensuring at least 5% of their workforce consists of apprentices, graduates, and sponsored students. Peel Ports' accomplishments in this area have secured the Silver Award for the company.
The Silver Award recognises Peel Ports' ongoing commitment to providing opportunities for young people to learn and develop valuable skills within the dynamic ports and logistics industry. Peel Ports believes that nurturing talent, investing in education, and creating a supportive environment for its employees are essential components of a successful future.
Out of 180 esteemed members who were part of the 2022-23 audit, Peel Ports is proud to be one of the 22 employers who have achieved The Silver Standard.
Rachel Smith, Group HR Director, expressed her pride with this achievement, stating, "We are delighted to receive recognition from The 5% Club for our dedication to developing our people and promoting diversity and inclusion. Achieving the Silver Standard in less than six months since joining The 5% Club highlights our dedication to investing in future talent and our existing workforce. It ensures that we have the skills and capabilities needed to succeed now and in the future. Apprenticeship programs play a vital role in guaranteeing the continued growth and success of the maritime and logistics industry."
Mark Cameron OBE, Chief Executive at The 5% Club said, “Our Employer Audit scheme recognises the efforts of all those Employers who invest in their workforce through a broad range of workplace learning schemes. It is fantastic that in these challenging times so many are able to commit to the Employer Audit and to gain the credit for their efforts, and that the majority are striving to expand their schemes over the coming years. Their efforts and achievements are to be applauded.”
Gill Cronin, Director of Operations at The 5% Club added: “Having seen The Club grow to more than 900 members, I am always impressed at the commitment, drive and energy our members channel into offering “earn and learn” skills opportunities. To now see 20 percent of these members gain Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum accredited membership of The Club is inspiring and demonstrates how these companies are all contributing to the future of skills in our economy.”
As an organisation, Peel Ports will continue to focus on promoting apprenticeships, graduate programs, and ongoing learning and development opportunities to maintain its commitment to nurturing talent, improving skills, and contributing to the growth of the ports and logistics industry.
