Peel Ports becomes the first port operator to join Sedex
Peel Ports Group is proud to announce it has become the world's first port operator to join Sedex, the supply chain sustainability data, insights and services company. This move places them among the thousands of businesses worldwide dedicated to sharing critical data on Sedex’s data platform aimed at enhancing working conditions across global supply chains.
As part of this commitment, Peel Ports Group will now be part of one of the largest collaborative platforms globally, connecting buyers, suppliers, and auditors. This platform enables organisations to share and access essential data related to supplier ethical and sustainable practices.
Sedex, renowned for its assessment tools, services, and extensive network, empowers companies to adopt more responsible and sustainable business practices. It fosters cooperation between companies and their suppliers to better manage their social and environmental performance while improving conditions for those working within the supply chain. This includes promoting ethical trading and conducting relevant audits.
Sedex boasts a global presence, with over 75,000 members spanning 180 countries across 35 different industry sectors, representing all the different stages of a supply chain.
Peel Ports Groups joins the likes of Unilever, Kellogg's and M&S, who have all committed to the platform.
Head of Procurement at Peel Ports Group, James Riddick said, "This is a significant step for us. As a responsible business, it has always been our aim to ensure that we are working with organisations that conform to our own ethical codes of practice. This platform will enable us to work together with suppliers to better manage our social and environmental performance and protect people working in the supply chain.”
