The Learning Academy

At Peel Ports Group, we have launched our ‘Peel Ports Learning Academy’, from the development of all employees and our early career talent, to developing our aspiring talent and empowering our current leaders. The focus is on enabling, increasing, and growing the core knowledge, skills, and behaviours across our business, at all levels.

The Academy has four pillars, each one dedicated to equipping our employees with the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed for today and building them for the future. Port Pathways are an underpinning part of our development and encompass our commitment to Apprenticeships.

  • Your Journey: From Day 1, every employee embarks on their journey with a comprehensive Group and Local induction programme, emphasising core, statutory, and mandatory safety training. This programme also includes role-specific learning, setting the stage for employee development and future career opportunities at PPG.
  • Port Pathways: Port Pathways aim to attract top talent to the port by offering comprehensive development opportunities. It focuses on apprenticeship programmes, graduate development schemes, and internships or year-in-industry placements, ensuring a robust foundation for future maritime professionals.
  • Aspiring Talent: This programme is dedicated to developing individuals identified through succession planning, focusing on developing their future skills and potential. It focuses on those who have demonstrated strong potential for leadership and management roles, preparing them to become the next generation of leaders.
  • Our Leaders: Our current performance and future potential are driven by our leaders. Therefore, we must focus on skill development at all levels. From First Line Management and Middle Management to Senior Leadership and Executive & Director Leadership teams, comprehensive development will grow all levels.
