Group Marine Environmental Award 2024: Submissions now open!

Peel Ports are excited to invite nominations for the 2024 Group Marine Environmental Award. This Award recognises extraordinary efforts by organisations and individuals to protect and enhance the aquatic environments across Peel Ports Statutory Harbour Authority (SHA) areas.

Deadline: 9th September 2024

The Winner of the Award will be presented with a trophy and certificate of commendation for their projects efforts to sustain and enhance the marine environments across Peel Ports’ marine jurisdictional areas. Submissions are encouraged across all of our port locations. Each project will be scored based on its positive impact upon the local environment, society and economy.

The 2023 Award winner

Last year, we presented our inaugural award to Glasgow Science Centre, The University of Glasgow and the Clyde Marine Planning Partnership for their floating wetland project installed at Prince’s Dock in Clydeport.

The floating wetland project focused on innovative solutions to enhance and restore biodiversity in a disused dock area. Three floating wetlands were installed in March 2023 containing over 2000 native plants and trees, last summer kingfishers, otters, and swans were some of the species that had begun to make their islands their new home.
